Let’s Talk About…The Billion Dollar Movie Club

Episode 10

In the latest episode of Let’s Talk About… the boys decide that given the number of movies crossing the million dollar mark at the box office, that it was time to spend some time discussing this exclusive club.

As of recording, there are 65 movies in the club, and this year alone has seen Super Mario Galaxy, Michael, Toy Story 5, The Odyssey and Spiderman: Brand New Day recently added to the list, with the latter going as far as hitting the even rarer, 2 billion dollar mark.

The list was taken from Box Office Mojo, and covers everything from Avatar, The Marvel Universe, Star Wars and even Barbie.

Things we cover in this weeks episode:

• Any surprises on the list?

• Any themes? Sequels, Marvels and the blue people?

• Is crossing the billion dollar mark a sign of success or an albatross around any potential franchises neck?

• Have billion dollar movies been a good thing for the industry, or have they set the bar too high?
